One Great Falls dentist took on an Alaskan tradition and beat the odds. Dr. Brett Bruggeman finished 39th in the Iditarod, beating out 28 other mushers in the 'Great Race'. Bruggeman touched down in the Electric City Monday afternoon and was welcomed by friends and family, 2 days after completing his race in 11 days, 20 hours, and 21 minutes. According to American Red Cross, severe winter weather has had an impact on blood donations with more than 150 blood drives forced to cancel causing over 5,500 blood and platelet donations to go uncollected.
Following an overwhelming response this week from blood donors across the nation to support victims of the Las Vegas shooting, the immediate blood needs have been met. Donors came out in large numbers to give blood following the tragedy; however, they won’t be eligible to donate again until early December.
