The town of north Ogden, Utah, is mourning the loss of their former mayor, who was killed in Afghanistan.
Brent Taylor temporarily stepped down as North Ogden's mayor so he could deploy to Afghanistan with the Utah Army National Guard.
In a message posted on Facebook, a North Ogden council member says Taylor was killed this morning.
The Utah National Guard says it appears Taylor was killed by a member of the Afghan National Defense and other forces. It's reported that the shooter was later gunned down.
Taylor previously served two tours of duty in Iraq, first as a convoy security commander, and then an adviser to an Iraqi National Intelligence Agency.
The council member says Taylor leaves behind a wife and children.
