One man is in custody after an incident involving a gun and a short police chase in Missoula's Northside early Thursday morning.
According to a press release from the Missoula Police Department, officers were called to a car crash just before 3:30 a.m. Thursday in the 900 block of N. Orange Street.
A witness told 911 that one of the drivers showed a handgun and fired shots near the accident scene.
Not long after, officers were alerted that the same man pulled up to another vehicle and showed the gun again.
Officers located the suspect in a blue Chevy pickup. They say when they tried to pull the vehicle over, the suspect fled.
After pursuit, the driver stopped on the west end of Otis Street. Police say he got out of the vehicle with the gun in his hand. Police say the suspect and an officer exchanged gunfire before the suspect dropped his gun and started to walk away.
The man was apprehended.
Missoula Police say there were no injuries reported.
A 'use of force' investigation will be conducted by the Montana Department of Criminal Investigation since an officer fired his weapon during the incident.
