BILLINGS - A popular summer place for Magic City residents and visitors has fallen victim to the wreaking ball.

Buildings at the former Big Splash Water Park on the west end are being town down, and the water slides have been dismantled.

In a telephone interview, realtor Bob Pulley, who had a hand in the sale of the property, said the owners of nearby Kelly Inn has bought the property and plans to build a new motel. Pulley said Wednesday that the land had been up for sale for quite some time.

Before its closure, Big Splash was the only outdoor water park in Billings. However, the Sahara Park Aquatic Center in the Heights will take over that role in summer 2012, when it is expected to be open to the public.
