Since November 22, Montanans, all across the state have put their differences aside for a gleaming hope of being able to watch their team compete in the FCS. Both MSU and UM have made it to the playoffs. ESPN had reported that they will not put the games on tv. They say that this is based on viewers. Most of Montana is not happy. 21,000 people have imprinted their virtual signature on the event called Petition to have ESPN Lift Blackouts of FCS Playoff Games. It is located on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/121290624649284/. Even our congressman stated displeasure with ESPN and wrote letters to the President, George Bodenheimer.
It would be really nice if a state network like all of the NBCs took the rights and showed the games.
http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/broadcast/media/broadcasting/broadcasting+manual/sect7/rights,
This explains the rights. Montana may have a chance to view the MSU and UofM games if a local station takes advantage of this. If you read at the bottom it says this, "If Turner/CBS and/or ESPN do not activate their television rights to any round in NCAA championship competition, the NCAA has the right to sell these rights for local syndication. A rights fee will be charged for these events. Local campus and/or non-commercial television stations may have the rights fee waived. Any station selling commercials, selling or airing billboards, sponsors, in-game graphic sponsors, underwriters or phone pledges must pay the NCAA a minimum of $1,000 (One Thousand Dollars) per game for rights fees. Rights fees may vary from championship to championship."

Hysham HS Scores $1000 of Sports Equipment as Winner of YouNews™ and KULR8.com Contest

The students at Hysham High School received $1000 of sports equipment, courtesy of KULR8 and YouNews™. The school’s football program was recently highlighted on KULR8.com with a video submission to the “YouNews Prep Sports FanCam Contest”. The winning entry was uploaded by Ronnie Mack and features a video of the Hysham Pirates football team sinking the Terry Terriers during a clash on September 26th.

YouNews editors culled through hundreds of FanCam submissions from over 60 affiliate stations nationwide, and Mack’s entry was one of only four selected to receive the grand prize. The Hysham HS sports department received $1000 worth of equipment, awarded in the form of gift cards to an online retailer. As the submitter of the winning entry, Mack received a Panasonic portable DVD player and two DVD movies.

KULR8.com visitors are invited to upload content to YouNews at any time, where there are categories for news, sports, weather, events and pets/animals. Videos and photos are reviewed by station staff and may be chosen for use during newscasts, promos or elsewhere on the air.
