The Magic of Montana

The Magic of the Mountains

This photo was taken in the Beartooth Mountains after the longest hike I've ever been on. This photo resembles the Spirit of Montana to me because it captures the feelings and the appreciation that I've always had for Montana and nature. Preserved in this picture is everything that means anything to me: my friends, my family, my boyfriend, and the simple and powerful beauty of unspoiled, untarnished nature in the background. This picture holds many vivid memories for me, as well as many firsts. It was the first time that I'd ever been lost in the wilderness (ending up three miles off the trail), the first time I'd ever had to push myself so hard physically (I know I only made it up the mountain through sheer will), and lastly, it was also the first time that I fell in love. The Mountains of Montana created a magic that day that I will never forget. If you look closely in the picture, you'll see that I have a huge smile on my face because seconds before my dad pushed down the button to take the picture, my boyfriend grabbed my hand. From that point on, I realized something. He became the love of my life.
