7th Annual Big Sky Comedy Festival draws America's Got Talent scouts

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS, Mont. -

Get ready for a week of laughs at the 7th Annual Big Sky Comedy Festival.

The event has grown year after year in the Magic City and co-organizer, Wayne Wilcox, said he expects this to be the biggest year yet.

Wilcox said the event has drawn network talent scouts the past few years, but this year, multiple America's Got Talent scouts will be in attendance to see which comedian will be the next big star.

He said one of the goals of Big Sky Comedy Festival is to get these comedians involved in bigger opportunities after they leave here. Many of the past comedians have already moved onto bigger roles, including Dulcé Sloan who is now a correspondent on The Daily Show on Comedy Central. Jimmy O. Yang is also a former Big Sky Comedy Festival contestant who stars in "Silicon Valley" and just appeared in his first movie, "Rich Crazy Asians."

Auggie Smith leads Team Auggie for the festival against Team Seeley. He said this is an opportunity for people to see something you don't get to see every day in Billings.

"It's still the purest, most beautiful art form there is," Smith said. "It's one person and a microphone creating a universe for you to live in for just a while, and oh my God, when it's done well, it's the best thing in the world and you get to see that all week long."

Big Sky Comedy Festival runs October 9-13 and there are multiple shows each night at different locations.
