First Response Personnel Braving Hurricane Florence
Hurricane Florence has reached the Carolinas and has brought with it historic rainfall and flooding.
Several areas have been ordered to evacuate, but first responders will be staying behind to brave the storm and help those in need.
One such responder is Danielle Oxendine's mother, who is a paramedic in South Carolina.
For Danielle, the idea of her mom staying behind is a scary, but admirable thought.
While first responders are required to stay in times of emergency, Danielle says her mom wouldn’t have it any other way.
"She always just puts people before herself. Even before when I was younger, before she was a paramedic, we had a bad tornado come through my hometown. Her and my dad, the first thing they did was once they knew we were safe, jump in the truck and ride around town," explained Danielle.
One of the best ways to help is by donating supplies and possibly even blood to the Red Cross.
