Posted: Updated:

A University of Montana running back pleaded guilty to an assault charge in Missoula County Justice Court, Wednesday.

Prosecutors say Jeremy Calhoun was in a fight outside a bar in downtown Missoula in May.

Court documents say Calhoun punched Aaron Misipeka-Ward, a former Griz basketball player.

Misipeka-Ward was reportedly trying to break up a fight and Calhoun turned and punched Misipeka-Ward, knocking out two of his teeth.

Police say Calhoun admitted to being involved in the fight.

Calhoun pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault - bodily injury Wednesday afternoon.

Our reporter in the courtroom said Misipeka-Ward was called to testify about the incident.

The judge handed down a 24-month deferred sentence, 100 hours of community service and a $500 fine.
