Alcohol listed as factor in Plentywood volleyball team bus crash

Posted: Updated:

Sheridan County Undersheriff Scott Nelson says alcohol is a factor in a two-vehicle crash that injured several members of the Plentywood Girls Volleyball Team.

Nelson says on Saturday at 5:40 pm, a vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 16 was trying to make a lefthand turn onto Highway 258, also known as "Reserve Highway," when it collided with the bus traveling northbound. The bus was carrying the girls volleyball team from a meet earlier in the day.

The sole occupant of the southbound vehicle was injured and taken to the Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

Several girls were injured as well. Some were treated on scene and others were transported to the hospital. Undersheriff Nelson says all have been released. The bus driver is okay.

Montana Highway Patrol is now investigating. It is unclear at this time if charges will be filed.
