Before you take a sip, take precaution

Posted: Updated:

GREAT FALLS- Before you get in the car this weekend, you may want to think twice when starting your engine.

Montana Highway Patrol says more officers will be out patrolling and cracking down on drunk driving considering it's a holiday weekend. GFPD and MHP say to avoid risking yours and others safety, make sure you have a secure plan in place for getting home before you drink.

For sober drivers on the road, police warn to pay attention to driver's who have no headlights, are inconsistently speeding, and swerving into other lanes because those may be signs of a drunk driver. If you do see these signs, MHP says keep your distance, don't try stopping the car and call police with the vehicle's information.
