MontanaFair returns to MetraPark ride safety a priority

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS, Mont. -

MontanaFair starts Friday, August 10th and rolls out family fun until the 18th.

There are several new additions to MontanaFair to get excited about.

There are two brand new thrill rides: The Star Tower where you hang out 90 feet in the air and Blackout a twisting turning upside down adventure.

New food vendors like Bailey's Frozen Novelties and Candytown USA along with other local food trucks and all of your favorite fried treats.

You can't forget about the entertainment throughout the day.

There will be Hypnotist Chris Mabrey, The Rock Bottom Boys Band, and family favorite Mango and Dango will be joining the crew once again.

MatraPark's Ray Massie said his favorite part of the fair is "the smiles on kids faces, the smiles on parents faces, that we're able to deliver when you come to the fair and that's why we do it."

One act you won't want to miss is the Flying Fools who high jump from 80 ft into a small pool.

If you enjoy the rides more than the entertainment you won't be disappointed but do any of them make you nervous?

Thomas Carnival President John Hanschen said you shouldn't worry.

He said the rides are put together by about 120 experienced workers over a 48 hour period.

Once the rides are put together there is about a 20 step inspection checklist each ride goes through according to John.

He said there is something you can do to help everyone at the fair stay safe.

John said, "If they see something that they're unsure about or question then I encourage them to ask us and say can you please explain why this is like this and if we find that something needs attention then the public can be a good help to us."

Montana weather changes in a snap so John said that is also something they watch closely and will close rides as needed.
