Free Cycles goes to Flathead to give bikes to kids

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA -

It’s pretty clear Missoula is one of the best cycling cities in Montana and Free Cycles knows that. That is why they are trying to help as many kids as they can.

Free Cycles is a non-profit organization based here in Missoula and today they are going up to the Flathead reservation to fix and provide bikes to kids there-for free.

If you want to get involved, they are looking for volunteers. No experience working on bikes is required, all they ask is you are good with kids.

Free Cycle’s executive director, Bob Giordano, says this is a great way for the community to come together over something he loves so much.

“We bring out the tools, the parts, and it doesn't take long for kids in the community to come gather around and start helping out,” Giordano said.

Giordano also explained why he is so driven to do this.

“We like to connect with people about being stewards of this earth, stewards of this community. And partnering with the Flathead reservation is a great way to accomplish that.”

If you were not able to volunteer but would like to in the future, they will be going back again July 25th, August 6 and 13.

To request to volunteer you can send them an email at programs@strans.org, or stop by the store on 1st street.
