Montana Hall remodeling to improve access for people with disabilities

MSU is in the midst of its summer construction season, with construction on the new dorm, dining hall and a bunch of other various projects. \

Now, MSU is improving one of its most historic building, Montana Hall, to make it accessible for people with disabilities.

Currently only the first floor is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Soon this hall will have a new elevator, fire stairwell, and ADA-accessible bathrooms on each of its floors. Montana Hall holds numerous administrative offices that all students need access to.

Michael Becker with MSU News Service says this has been a lingering project that just needed to get done.

Becker said, “We want our visitors who come to campus to be able to meet with anyone that they want to, and Montana Hall is just one of those places where people meet. It’s the home of the President, the home of the upper administration and it’s important that anyone who has accessibility needs can get into those offices.”

Montana Hall will be under construction until December, so MSU staff say if you have accessibility needs, you can call whatever department you are working with and make alternate accommodations.
