Carbon County continues to watch for flooding

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS, Mont. -

Flooding continues to be a concern for residents in Carbon County.

KULR-8 has been checking in with residents in Fromberg to see if they've experienced any flooding in the Clarks Fork Valley and they said things are going well.

The incident command team for Carbon County has set up in Fromberg where past forecasts were calling for historic major flooding.

Audrey Walleser, Fromberg Community Liaison Officer, said the team has known about the possible flooding since March and has been doing everything they can to prepare for any flooding.

She said they're responsible for the entire Clarks Fork Valley which has gotten away with minimal flooding so far.

Walleser said flooding in the town of Fromberg doesn't look as likely but flooding is likely along agricultural land.

She continued by saying, "We're concerned right now just about a variety of areas in the area, now knowing where the water is going to come out or what it's going to do. Obviously any time there is material in those rivers it can definitely change where the water could potentially come out. So again we're just asking residents to stay vigilant and keep their eyes on the river."

Walleser said the best way for Clarks Fork Valley residents to stay informed on the flooding situation is for them to join the Carbon Alert system if they haven't already done so.

Landlines are automatically enrolled in the Carbon Alert System.
