Board of Trustees reviews superintendent contract

Board of Trustees will sit down with Mr. Greg Upham to discuss his duties he will serve as the new superintendent of school district 2.

Mr. Greg Upham can call Billings home by July 1st, 2018; that's when his contract goes into effect.

As a native of Montana, Upham has over 30 years of experience and most recently served as the assistant superintendent in Helena public schools.

In his contract, Billings public schools has concluded Mr. Upham has the skills and experience necessary to serve has the new superintendent of school district 2.

During the superintendent meet and greet board of trustees said they admire Upham's professional growth and cite his curriculum knowledge as a strength.

In a press release from Upham's attorneys, he said he is excited for his new chapter in Billings.

In a previous interview with KULR-8 Upham said his main focus is on student achievement.

"There's a lot of things going right, but get into the big issues that we have across the state with attendance and truancy and the mental health pieces are the things I really want to get into and get into the community," said Upham.

Billings public schools is seeking a two year contract at a starting salary of $165,000 for his first year, with a 2% increase in his next year.

Board of trustees will meet with Mr. Upham Monday, May 21st, 2018 at the Lincoln Education center for their board meeting.
