Man mistakenly dials 911, arriving deputies find 2 men making meth

Posted: Updated:
BRANDON, Iowa -

Two Iowa men will serve prison time after one of them accidentally pocket-dialed 911 while the other was making methamphetamine.

According to KCRG, Cody Davis Brown was cooking meth in a building outside a Brandon home on Aug. 2, 2016, when guest Daniel David O'Hara's cellphone, which was in his pocket, accidentally called 911.

Deputies say O'Hara then took the battery out of his phone after realizing the call had gone through, but it was too late.

Deputies responded, and discovered Brown making the drug. The pair was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and zopiclone.

Brown was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison after he was convicted of manufacturing and possessing meth. O'Hara was sentenced in October 2016 to five years in prison.

BERLIN - The White House says a 95-year-old former Nazi concentration camp guard has been deported to Germany, 14 years after a judge ordered his expulsion. In a statement, the White House said the deportation of Jakiv Palij, who lived in New York City, was carried out early Tuesday.    After World War II, Palij hid his involvement in the slaughter of Jews at the Trawniki camp in Nazi-occupied Poland and gained entry to the U.S. by claiming he was a farmer.
