CWD meeting in Bridger

BILLINGS, Mont. -

Now that the special hunt for chronic wasting disease is officially over, Fish, Wildlife, & Parks is holding a meeting tonight in Bridger regarding its findings on CWD.

KULR-8 spoke with Bob Gibson with Fish, Wildlife, & Parks who said people who attend the meeting can expect a full report on what FWP found during the special hunt, which ran from December through the middle of February.

Gibson said he'll not only discuss the findings, he'll also discuss statistics, what the findings mean, and a short term plan on what FWP will do to manage CWD. He said this meeting is specifically designed for anybody that wants to know more about chronic wasting disease, so there won't be any surprises when the next hunting season arrives. He also said he expects for some county commissioners to attend tonight, as well as land owners and sportsman.

Gibson explained why it's so important for Montanans to continue talking about CWD.

"There's some things we're going to do and that means that next hunting season, people are going to see some changes in what they do in the Eastern half of Carbon County," Gibson said. "So they need to know that so they're prepared for it, so they don't violate the law, and so that they stay legal and ethical and we stay safe in spreading the disease."

This meeting tonight is at the civic center off main street in Bridger starting at 6:30 tonight.
