Crow Tribe honors missing and murdered women and girls with movie night

Posted: Updated:
CROW AGENCY, Mont. -

Saturday, people across Montana came together to march and wear red in support of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls.

Although May 5th is the official day of awareness for the cause, tribal members are holding events throughout the week to continue drawing attention to the cause.
Niki Stewart, a Crow Tribe community member, said those who still want to learn more about the cause are welcome to join a viewing party Wednesday, for the film "When They Were Here."
The event is called "Honoring Their Stories" and Stewart said she chose this movie because she feels it hits close to home.

The filmmakers will be at the event as well to answer questions and give a sneak peak of their latest film.
The showing will take place Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Apsaalooke Multi-Purpose Building on Crow Agency.
