Local Great Falls foster mom’s Nikki Davalos and Kat Whitish are working together to build a non-profit organization called Linking Our Voices Together, otherwise known as L.O.V.E.
This non-profit organization will be a support system for foster parents not only in Great Falls, but potentially across the entire state of Montana.
L.O.V.E. aims to bring foster parents together to help with a variety of things such as training, advice, extra resources, etc.
Or in the words of Nikki Davalos, co-founder of L.O.V.E.," To just help all of our foster children get what they need. Whether it’s being able to be included in a sport or maybe it’s participation in something at school."
However, the most important part of this program is the support system not only for the parents but children as well.
"It’s very important for them to have support and for all of us be on the same page. We have only been working on this for a month and the community has really stepped forward," says Kat Whitish, co-founder of L.O.V.E.
Currently, there are approx. 4,000 foster children in the state of Montana.
The goal of L.O.V.E. is to provide all of those children a sense of normalcy by providing the foster parents with the help and support that they need.
The first step in this whole process is getting the form declaring they’re a non-profit organization, which costs around $1,000.
After this, there will be plenty of fundraiser's and events to volunteer at!
If you’d like to support Nikki and Kat's organization, they have set up a Facebook and GoFundMe page set-up.
Any donations are welcome as well!
