Superintendent Finalist Interviews This Week

School District 2 for Billings will interview five finalists for the Superintendent position this week at the Lincoln Education Center Board Room. On Monday, Mr. Greg Upham, Dr. Rebecca Salato, and Dr. Ross Kasun will be interviewed. Come Tuesday, Dr. George Bickert and Dr. Barry Bryant will each be interviewed.

Below is a list of each candidate's qualifications and background:

Mr. Greg Upham

  • The current District Assist. Superintendent for Helena Public Schools
  • Past positions include: Helena High Principal, Capital High Assist. Principal, and Educator at Helena High, Belt High, and Browning High
  • Has a Bachelor in Science in Industrial Technology Education at Montana Western
  • Has a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership at the Univ. of Montana

Dr. Rebecca Salato (not pictured)

  • If selected, she would move from California to Montana
  • The current Vice President for Action Learning Systems
  • Past positions include: Chief Operating Officer for Action Learning Systems
  • Has a Bachelor of Applied Science at the Nazareth College of Rochester
  • Has a Doctor of Education in Education Leadership Administration and Policy at Pepperdine Univ.

Dr. Ross Kasun

  • The current Superintendent for Freehold Township Board of Education in New Jersey
  • Chosen as the 2017 New Jersey Superintendent of the Year by NJASA
  • Past positions include: Superintendent of Schools for Freehold Township & Superintendent for Colts Neck
  • Has Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Seton Hall Univ.

Dr. George Bickert

  • The current Superintendent for Ruidoso Municipal Schools in New Mexico
  • Has held this position since 2013
  • Has Ph.D in Educational Leadership and Administration at Arizona State Univ.

Dr. Barry Bryant

  • The current Superintendent of Schools for Big Horn County School District 3 in Wyoming
  • Past positions include: Principal in Big Horn County School District 3, School Counselor at Carbon County School District 1, and Business teacher and school counselor at Clarksville Montgomery County School System
  • Served in the military as a Sergeant Major for the U.S. Army (1983-2006)
  • Has a masters in Trade and Industrial Teacher Education
  • Has a masters in Counselor Education/School Counseling and Guidance Services
  • Has Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration
