Missoula firefighters take stairclimb team title

Posted: Updated:

Missoula's firefighters win the team title at the Scott Firefighter Stairclimb for the 7th year in a row.

On Sunday, thousands of firefighters from across the nation raced to see who could get to the top of 69 flights of stairs the fastest. The men and women were wearing full structure protection gear including heavy air tanks. The gear weighs about 30 pounds.

The team competition takes the fastest three finishers from any department.

Missoula's top three finishers were Ben Brunsvold who took third, Andy Drobeck (who won the competition the last six years) finished fourth this year, and Blake Meyers finished 26th. Their combined team time was 36:42.

The event raises thousands of dollars for cancer research every year. You can support your local team through the end of the month.
