JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming's Jaelin Kauf will compete this weekend in the Olympics on Sunday in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
The 21-year-old Kauf enters the game as the world's top ranked moguls skier.
Kauf is from the small northwest Wyoming community of Alta, and she spent much of her childhood on the slopes of Grand Targhee Ski Resort.
The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports that her parents had success in winter sports, too.
Her father, Scott, was a five-time World Pro Mogul Tour champion, and her mother, Patti, won the tour twice.
None of the Kaufs expected her to be where she is now. Her rise to the top has come suddenly. But she hasn't caught any of them off guard. They all feel she's capable of winning the gold medal.
