Park County still investigating fatal fire

EMIGRANT, Mont. -

Park County officials are still investigating a fatal fire in Emigrant. 

Firefighters found two people and a dog deceased after a fire at a residence Thursday. 

Friday, the Park County Sheriff's Office and the Coroner's Office announced the two deceased individuals and dog were removed from the fire scene. The coroner and a detective are going to Billings to conduct autopsies to determine the cause of death and to positively identify the victims. 

The small community of Emigrant is located near Chico Hot Springs, south of Livingston.

ABC FOX Montana will continue to follow this story provide updates as additional information is made available.

The Park County Sheriff’s Office and the Coroner’s Office have removed the two deceased individuals and dog from the fire scene.  Coroner Albert Jenkins and Sheriff’s Office Detective Brian Green are going to Billings today to conduct autopsies with the State Medical Examiner in order to determine the cause of death as well as to positively identify the victims.

The Park County Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing the scene until further investigation is completed. We will release additional information as it becomes available.

    The Bacon Rind Fire continues to burn over a thousand acres of Yellowstone National Park and the Lee Metcalf Wilderness, as fire crews attempt to slow the wildfire.  National Forest Service officials said in a press release that the fire experienced minimal growth yesterday.
