UPDATE: The man killed in the Thursday evening crash on I-90 near the Lockwood exit is identified as John Patrick King, 40, of Billings.

Yellowstone County Coroner Cliff Mahoney said King died of multiple blunt force injuries after he was ejected from the vehicle.

A man is dead after a two-vehicle crash on I-90 near the Lockwood exit early Thursday evening.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Justin Moran says a man was traveling westbound on I-90 and was merging onto the interstate from the Lockwood on-ramp when he lost control of his pickup. The pickup spun out in front of a semi-truck in the passing lane and then struck the guardrail.

The crash happened about 5:00 p.m. The westbound lanes of I-90 were closed for about 20 minutes following the crash.

Trooper Moran says it is believed the driver was not wearing a seat belt and neither drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
