Businesses give customer appreciation for small business Saturday

BILLINGS, Mont. -

Small business Saturday isn't just a good way for shoppers to find a good deal.

It's also a good way for local businesses to give their appreciation to the community.

"It's the one time where you legitimately say thank you for supporting us.," said Lucy Aspinwall. She owns Aspinwall Mountain Wear located downtown. "I posted on Facebook the other day that I felt the community of Billings has grown our retail space, which has been a huge blessing."

Many businesses say most of their customers are regulars and their support is what helps them to continue to succeed.

As a way to give thanks, Times Square Furniture and Mattress store manager Joe Paluch said they help out in the community in any way they can.

"It's been great having the community come out and check out our store and we'd like to give back to the community," Paluch adds. "We do a lot of fundraising and and donations too."

Lucy Aspinwall said without the encouragement of her customers, her business wouldn't be as successful as it is today.

"We really didn't market much at all. Just word of mouth and the community of Billings understanding who we were and wanting us to succeed," Aspinwall adds. "Then getting us to move into this space 7 months ago has been a blessing to see us grow that way."

As the holiday season nears, one thing many businesses want their customers to remember is to shop small.
