Local business hosts Community Blanket Drive

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS, Mont. -

A local business is looking for your help to keep the community warm this season.

KULR 8's Briana Monte spoke with Jay Hoffman who is the co-owner of Mattress King in Billings and he said he is partnering with KULR 8 and hosting the Community Blanket Drive starting now until December 15th for those who are in need.

Hoffman said he just became aware of the need of how many people in Billings needed warm blankets during the winter time and was shocked when he first heard about it. He said this blanket drive is geared towards the holidays primarily because the holidays are during a season where people need blankets the most. He also said people can come by two of their locations on King and Grand Avenues and drop off new or gently used blankets. Hoffmann explained why his business is hosting the Community Blanket Drive.

"A lot of us are very blessed and we don't realize sometimes we're at home where we're taking care of the utility bills and are all taken care of," Hoffman said. "But they don't realize that a lot of people that might look like their house is fine, have to turn their heat down because of cost and expenditures and I think we just don't realize the need that's out there."

Hoffman said the blankets will go toward different organizations such as the Women's Shelter and Montana Rescue Mission. He said the drive can never have enough blankets.
