Montana's Health Co-op remains standing as others falter

Posted: Updated:

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - The Montana Health Co-op resumes accepting new enrollees on Sunday after withdrawing from the state's health insurance exchange last year amid worries about its financial health.

Chief Executive Officer Jerry Dworak asserts that the co-op is in position to absorb all 64,000 Montanans who buy policies from the state's health insurance exchange.

About two dozen co-ops sprang up, from Maine to Oregon, with the passage in 2010 of the Obama administration's health care law.

But within two years, half of the programs folded because of political attacks, financial miscalculations and the volatility of the marketplace.

Montana's co-op, which also serves Idaho, is now just one of four that remain.

It enrolls 20,000 of the 64,000 people who purchase individual plans on the exchange, which includes Blue Cross and PacificSource.

Arby's has come up with a way to savor Sunday's season-finale of HBO's "Game of Thrones."  Arby's will offer the smoked turkey leg, which looks similar to the kind sold at theme parks.  The turkey leg is described as "seasoned with salt and brown sugar, smoked and slow-roasted to perfection." It's only being sold in nine cities around the US --  including Fargo, North Dakota.  The turkey leg will only be available for a limited time.

If you are buying a Powerball ticket... Make sure you check your numbers carefully. Even if you don't win the big pot of money you could still come away with a nice sum of cash.
