BILLINGS, Mont. -

The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center issues a backcountry avalanche warning for the mountains around Cooke City.

The GNFAC rates the avalanche danger as high on all slopes.

Representatives say heavy, wet snowfall overnight with strong westerly winds is adding weight to a weak and unstable snowpack.

They say natural and human triggered avalanches are likely on Monday.

Choctaw County Sheriff Terry Park tells The Oklahoman that inmates Harley Davidson and Rakeem Lennox waited for jail staff to leave the area near their room about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. He says the men then entered the booking room to steal a laundry room door key and fled.
