Cody's Crusade: Family hosts toy drive at St. V's

Posted: Updated:

Earlier this week, Cody McDonald would have turned 1-years old..

His parents, Halley and Ian McDonald remember Cody has their little boy who always had a reason to smile and laugh. But in October, Cody had fallen ill and passed away at ten months due to complications from Meningitis.

This morning at St. Vincent Hospital, Halley, Ian and their daughter handed out toys to kids in the pediatric unit.

Halley says she knows how hard it must be for families to be here this holiday season, so they want to make it easier and bring some holiday joy to kids. When Cody passed, the McDonald's donated his organs, and just want to keep making little steps forward to help get some good out of the situation.

"We want to give him a little legacy hopefully. There's three kids out there who have are living because of him and  we're trying to change other people's lives with his legacy so by these toys given out we're just hoping that people feel the love that he was, is providing," she said.

The McDonald's say they hope to continue this toy drive at St. V's called Cody's Crusade every year.
