Bullock potential presidential candidate?

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS, Mont. -

Governor Steve Bullock just won re-election but term limits mean this will be his last as governor.

So in four years what's next for Montana's governor?

A recent Washington Post blog has some ideas about that transition. The article was published Monday and it's titled "Why I Left Elizabeth Warren off My 2020 Presidential List and Why I Was Wrong."

Numerous names where mentioned in the blog as 2020 presidential contenders.

The blog reads as follows:

"If democrats want to try to further their gains in the west, Bullock could be an appealing choice. He won re-election earlier this month with a slim majority of the vote even as Trump was cruising to victory in the last best place. One major problem for Bullock: he's never raised anywhere near the kind of money he would need to be competitive with some of the bigger names on this list."

We reached out to Bullock's office for a response and here's what they released to us:

"Governor Bullock was elected by Montanans to serve as governor for the next four years and his focus is on continuing to bring democrats and republicans together to move this state forward by making responsible decisions about our state finances and upholding our Montana values."

Some other names mentioned for possible 2020 presidential candidates include Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown and Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine who was on Hillary Clinton's ticket.
