Billings Depot announces new attraction

Posted: Updated:

Some new scenery is coming to Downtown Billings early next year. With the help of a generous donation, people will soon be able to take a walk and learn about the Magic City, while helping local breweries

This afternoon, Billings Depot unveiled plans on a Walking Historical Tour. It's a way to enhance the historic part of Billings.

With a $65,000 donation from Phillips 66, the Historical Walking Tour will tell the Magic City's story. Posters of historical Magic City facts will hang in front of brewery plants called hops.

When it's time to pick the hops, Billings Depot will get the community together to pick hops and donate them to local breweries.

It's going to be great for the community. It's going to be a great space for them to come down and enjoy and learn about the history of Billings, but also for the tourists who come through, they're going to have an opportunity to come through, enjoy the scenery, and learn about the history," Billings Refinery Manager Ray Rigdon said.

The Walking Historical Tour will be done in phases. In February, Billings Depot will team up with Western Heritage to create content. In March, concrete needs to be cut along the fence so then by April they can plants the hops.

The tour will be free for all.
