Wreaths Across America needs your help to honor fallen soldiers

BILLINGS, Mont. -

Organizers have nine days to gather enough donations to buy enough wreaths for the headstones of those buried at Yellowstone National Cemetery.

Last year, 400 wreaths were laid at the headstones. The effort, Wreaths Across America, has been taking place for three years. Six-hundred-fifty to 700 wreaths are needed this year to cover all of the graves at the National Cemetery. Organizers say about 150 wreaths have been sold.

"Christmas time is the toughest time for most families so it brings a lot of relief to see a wreath there sitting at the headstone at the national cemetery. It's a way of respect and honor of those who have served for us in this country," said Bill Kennedy of the Montana State University Billings Foundation.

The wreaths are $15 each. Donations can be dropped of at the Montana State University Foundation office at Rimrock Road and Virginia Lane or a donation can be made through the Wreaths Across America website. Remember, organizers only have nine days in which to raise the necessary funds
