This is the information we received via email from the Helena Police Department:
On 11/07/16 at 2151 hours, Officers responded to the 1300 block of Billings, Helena High School, for a report of a missing juvenile that was seen in the area. While in the area, the Officers were advised that three juveniles had gone inside the school. The Officers observed one juvenile female in the school who fled upon seeing Officers. After detaining one of the juveniles outside of the school, the Officers observed smoke coming from an area in the school. The Fire Department responded and put out the fire. It is unknown on the amount of damage caused at this time. During the investigation, three juveniles were placed under arrest for Arson, Aggravated Burglary, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Underage Possession of Alcohol, and one juvenile was also charged with Minor in Possession of Tobacco. The three juveniles were transported to detention.
Helena High School will be closed Tuesday, November 8 and Wednesday, November 9 after a fire breaks out Monday night.
According to Helena Public Schools, a fire started Monday night at the school. A wing of the school sustained significant smoke, water and fire damage according to a statement on Helena Public Schools' website.
The school closure only affects Helena High School and does not affect other schools in the district.
The investigation is ongoing.
