Future leadership in hands of Wyoming voters

Posted: Updated:
CODY, Wyo. -

As your Hometown Election Headquarters, KULR-8's Tanya Modersitzki will be following the Wyoming returns. We're following levies out of Park County, Montana and ballot propositions out of Park County, Wyoming.

We'll also be watching Cody's mayoral race, as well as Wyoming's Congressional race.

For Wyoming voters, Constitutional Amendment a is something to carefully consider. This is Wyoming's Investment of Funds in Equities Amendment. Voters can choose to allow additional state funds in the stock market or prevent legislatures from adding other state funds to those currently invested.

Turning to the U.S. House race for the At-Large Congressional District of Wyoming -- Republican Liz Cheney has the name recognition, thanks to her father Dick Cheney, who served as Vice President under George W. Bush.

Ryan Greene is the Democratic challenger.

Also on the ticket are Libertarian Lawrence Struempf and Constitution Party Candidate Daniel Cummings. The winner of this race will replace retiring Congresswoman Cynthia Lummis.

Something interesting I learned, an employee at Wyoming's Secretary of State's Office tells me, more people have already sent in their absentee ballots than all of those who voted in the 2012 election.

40 days ago, over 77,000 absentee ballots were sent out. As of this morning, over 71,000 have been returned. Employees at Wyoming's Secretary of State's Office say they are no longer accepting absentee ballots.

Voter's also can't cast their ballots in person anymore.

Voter's have to wait until tomorrow to submit their ballots at the polling place.

For last minute Wyoming voters, registration is closed today. However, residents can head to the polling place tomorrow where you can register and vote. Wyoming and Montana are two of the few states where same-day registration is held.
