UPDATE: Billings West End vandalism, 5 arrested

Billings Police Lieutenant Neil Lawrence says the five suspects arrested are all teens from Billings. Lawrence says four of the teens are 13 years old and one is 14 years old. Lieutenant Lawrence says a handgun was taken from one of the vehicles and has not been recovered as of Thursday night.

Billings Police Department says they have made five arrests after receiving multiple calls overnight of vandalism on Billings West End. Police anticipate more calls will be coming in this morning as Billings residents wake up to property damage.

Police say they began receiving calls around 1:30 a.m. Thursday for property damage and shots fired. The calls were coming from the areas of the 3700 and 3800 blocks of Parkhill Dr., Fairmeadow Dr. and the 2000 block of Tanner Ln. When officers arrived to the scene, they found two suspects who lead then them on a brief foot chase. It was later discovered the reports of shots fired in the area were the sounds of rocks being thrown at house windows.

Billings Police Sgt. Harley Cagle says five male juveniles have been arrested. They will be facing felony charges of criminal mischief.

Residents of at least 10 homes have reported vandalism.

Homeowners have been reporting damage to their cars, light fixtures and windows.

Police say damages to the homes and vehicles are estimated to be in the thousands.
