MSUB asks opinion on size of government

A recently released poll from students at Montana State University Billings asked about a whole host of topics.

For one of the questions, the students asked the public if the federal government was too large, about the right size, or too small. According to the 2016 MSUB Montana Poll, the results show the size of the federal government is too large. Compared with 2015's poll, Dr. Nisha Bellinger, Director of the poll said with only a 7.9% decrease you could say the results are similar.

Here's a breakdown of this years results. 67% of respondents said the federal government is too large. 23% said it's about the right size, with 1% saying it's too small, and 9% either didn't know or were not available.

Breaking the poll down a little more, by gender, a higher percentage of males, 77% think the size of the government is too large as compared to females, 59%.

The poll was also broken down by education significance. It showed a higher percentage of respondents, 74% with some college education saying the size of the government is too large. That's compared to 63% of respondents with a college education or higher saying the federal government is too large.
