Rocky's Bakken Ready if Needed to Start at QB

Posted: Updated:

This weekend the Rocky Mountain Battlin' Bears football team seemingly learned a lot from their loss last week to Southern Oregon with their own come from behind win over MSU Northern.

The Bears turned a fourth quarter deficit into a win with a 93 yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Sam Sparks, but had to play the fourth quarter without their starting quarterback Chase White who suffered a shoulder injury in the third quarter. In his absence backup quarterback Jacob Bakken came in to manage the game, and scored on a 56 yard scramble to ice the game with under two minutes to go. And while the team doesn't know the extent of White's injury yet, they are comfortable with Bakken if he needs to line up under center moving forward.

"It was great for him to see him do that," said Bears head coach Jason Petrino. "He's kind of a cool breeze, he takes everything in stride, so it was only a matter of time. But one thing Jake can do, is that he runs really, really well. And as the experience comes with the pass game he'll get more control and understanding of that."

"I've just got to play my game," said Bakken."I can't think about it, I just have to let the game come to me. I have to be there for the team, and put my team in positions to succeed."
