BILLINGS, Mont. -

Tumbleweed announced Friday they've hired a new executive director to lead its program.

Interim Director Mary Hernandez told KULR-8 Erika Willis will take over operations. According to a press release, Willis graduated with a master's degree from Montana State University Billings, and her career "spans the private and social sectors."

"We are very pleased to announce this appointment," Staci Grimm, chair of the Tumbleweed Board of Directors, said. "Erika will bring leadership and creativity to Tumbleweed's programs in her return to the organization where she served as a youth counselor earlier in her career. She has served nonprofits at program, fundraising, executive and leadership levels, and has a breadth of perspective and experience."

"I look forward to working with staff and collaborating with community partners in serving our at-risk youth," Willis said. "I am dedicated to our youth in helping them beyond receiving basic needs by connecting them to programs that increase their quality of life."

Willis is scheduled to start October 19. She will fill the vacancy created by Sheri Boelter's departure last December.

The nonprofit organization serves at-risk youth, families and their support systems.
