The Motor Vehicle Division in Montana says there's a backlog for drivers who want a Montana driver license.

On Wednesday we spoke by phone with Sarah Garcia, she's the Motor Vehicle Division Administrator under the Department of Justice.

Garcia says in the past two years they've seen 20,000 to 30,000 more driver license actions statewide.

Garcia says they're working on being more efficient because it's a challenge to hire more staff members. Garcia says if you have an out of state license, and need to get a Montana driver license, schedule an appointment by phone or online.

If you visit dojmt.com, you'll be able to book your appointment on the website. You'll also see the documents you need to bring with you.

Garcia says it's very important to bring the proper documents as they don't want to have to turn anyone away.
