BILLINGS, Montana - The Billings Mustangs (18-10) continue to roll in the month of July, edging out a 7-6 win over the Orem Owlz (17-12) on Sunday in front of 2,467 at Dehler Park. The win keeps the Mustangs undefeated in day games this season.

Ian Kahaloa got the start for Billings, giving up three runs in four innings of work. The Owlz would score in each of their first three trips to the plate. Jose Rojas hit his third homerun of the season while Zach Gibbons had RBI singles in both the first and third. Kahaloa struck out six batters, a new Pioneer League-high for him. He had struck out seven once in the Arizona League.

Trailing 3-0 going to the bottom of the third, the Mustangs finally broke through for their first runs of the game. Jose Siri cranked a 2-run homer to left with Satchel McElroy aboard off Ty Barkell. It was Siri's second round-tripper of the year.

Hector Vargas extended his hitting streak to 14 games when he singled in the second. He finished the day 1-for-4. It is the second longest active streak in the Pioneer League just behind Jordan Zimmerman's 19-game streak.

The Mustangs then took the lead for good when they scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. John Sansone picked up his second hit of the day, an RBI double to score Taylor Trammell. Sansone went 2-for-4 as he has come alive offensively this stand. Cassidy Brown added a two-RBI single to the equation to knock Justin Kelly (0-1) out of the game.

Junior Arias picked up his first save of the season, pitching the final seven outs of the day. The Owlz were able to get the tying run into scoring position in the ninth, but Michael Barash flew out to right to close the game.

With the win, Billings has now won six consecutive, a new season-high. They have also won nine straight at Dehler Park and have not lost at home since the month of June.

The Mustangs and Owlz will face off in the third of their four-game series Monday  at Dehler Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
