Rep. Zinke proposes series of debates to U.S. House candidates

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS, Mont. -

Another call goes out for debates between the candidates for Montana's lone U.S. House seat. But this time, the request comes from Congressman Ryan Zinke.

Zinke's campaign said Thursday the congressman is calling on his two challengers to accept a series of five debates he's proposing. Three of the debates would be traditional format and two would be town hall style, where audience members would be allowed to ask the candidates questions.

According to Zinke's campaign, he's proposing debates in Hardin, Helena, Kalispell, Fort Peck and Great Falls.

Democrat Denise Juneau and Libertarian Mike Fellows are facing incumbent Zinke as candidates for the U.S. House seat.

In May, Juneau sent a proposal to Zinke and Fellows for a series of six debates leading up to the November election. She suggested debates in Billings, Great falls, Bozeman, Butte, Pablo and Glendive.

At the time, KULR-8 reached out to Zinke and Fellows, who said they received Juneau's letter, saying they were willing to participate. But Thursday, Denise Juneau's campaign said Zinke has not responded to her request.
