Stella Steps Up Week 10: H2O Fitness

BILLINGS, Mont. -

Getting fit takes some effort and a willingness to stick with a program. That healthier approach can be achieved on solid ground or in the water.

"I like the water aerobics," said Kris Miles, who is on the KULR-8 corporate fitness challenge team. After trying a few different types of classes, she has found her way into the pool at Granite Fitness.

"I just like the low impact of it and all the ladies and gentlemen in the class are welcoming," added Miles. Her instructor on this day is Margaret Stephens, the mother of Corporate Fitness Challenge trainers, Jenn Thompson and Kari Bogner.

Kris is part of the KULR-8 family – literally. She is married to KULR-8 Station Manager, Doug Miles, who also is taking part in the focused effort to get more healthy.

"Well, if you did it by yourself, I think it would be kind of tough because the other person keeps you a little more accountable for what you're doing," Kris said. She does a good job of paddling and pushing and pumping her way through the waves a few times a week.

Kris says proper nutrition has not been a problem in the past, but getting serious about exercise took some determination.

"It was really hard the first few days, because if you don't exercise for 15 plus years, it takes a while to get back into it," she said. Exercise is quickly becoming routine because she is hooked on the benefits. "I feel a whole lot better. I know when I get out of bed, I don't hurt, and I think I have more stamina and that's one of the things I want to do."

What we're discovering through this Corporate Fitness Challenge with Granite Fitness and KULR-8 is that everyone's fitness goals and nutrition goals are individual. Whether it's the swimming pool or the weight floor where you want to achieve those goals, you can do it. You can do anything you set your mind to do.

Two more weeks remain in the Corporate Fitness Challenge. We will keep you posted, regarding who is declared the winner, even though in this effort, everyone's a winner.
