Stella Steps Up Week 1: Beginner fitness and nutrition tips

BILLINGS, Mont. -

Over the next few weeks, KULR-8 will be helping Billings check up on fitness and nutrition goals in 2016 through a fitness journey every Saturday night during the 10:00 newscast.

In this first installment of Stella Steps Up, Certified Fitness Trainer Jenn Thompson at Granite Health & Fitness share some simple steps to get going and stay on track.

Stella: We are so excited to share Stella Steps Up with you. And without further adieu, let's go to Jenn Thompson, Certified Trainer, here at Granite.
All right. Can you get us started?

Jenn: Absolutely. I think it's important that people know anytime you're getting started with new habits, they take more time, energy and focus as you get started, but as you get going with them, it gets easier so you just have to stay the course.

Stella: Okay, what do we need to do?

Jenn: So with nutrition, I think it's important that not only are you eating healthy, you're also tracking so we recommend using this really fantastic app called MyFitnessPal. It's free. It keeps track of your calories. It keeps track of your macro-nutrients, and it will keep you knowing what you are taking in each day.

Stella: Okay, that's a good tool, how about, oh I see a book over there.

Jenn: Yes, this is our Corporate Fit Challenge manual and we've got lots of recipes and meal plans in there. Meal planning is another great way to stay successful so you know what you are going to be taking in that day.

Stella: Okay, give us an exercise that we can do that isn't something that we'll be afraid of Jenn.

Jenn: So resistance tubing is a great thing to have at your house. They're inexpensive. You can get them from just about anywhere. I'm going to give you the red one if you don't mind and we're going to use the green. It's just going to be a back-stepping lunge with a lat pull. So you're sinking into your legs pulling that tube down and that's about it, about 12 reps.

Stella: And very quickly, how do you know the person you're working with is qualified?

Jenn: You need to ask. You need to ask your trainer to make sure they're certified to be doing what they're doing. It is something they should be a professional at.

Stella: Thank you so much, Jenn. We'll be checking in with Jenn and other staff here at Granite.

Tune in every Saturday night at 10:00 p.m. this month and next month for Stella Steps Up, a fitness partnership with Granite Fitness.

After a careful review of the evidence and witness testimony, prosecutors concluded the investigation could not conclusively determine who shot whom, or in what order the shots were fired.  Thus, there is no way to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, who actually fired the shot(s) that killed any of the decedents.
