110 volunteers serve a Christmas meal at MRM

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS, Mont. -

The Montana Rescue Mission kept tradition alive today, holding their 69th annual Christmas dinner. There were 110 volunteers that helped serve the meals today. The MRM had so many volunteers, it had to turn even more away.

The Rescue Mission serves up to 150 people at each meal and has served more than 80,000 people so far this year.

Close to 300 meals were delivered Friday to people who couldn't make it to the shelter. One young volunteer talked about his experience delivering those meals.

"We came back here...it took a long time to get our meals because that night they had a hundred more callers and then we got one extra meal. And when they brought them their meals, they were so happy because our very last stop there was this older person and she was so excited, because she was sick and couldn't move around,"  Volunteer Andrew McDowell said.

Volunteers got there early Christmas morning to cook, set up tables, and train for the day. Kids, adults and seniors volunteered.
