A Thanksgiving feast at the Montana Rescue Mission

BILLINGS, Mont. -

Volunteers were working hard this Thanksgiving at the Montana Rescue Mission, ensuring the less fortunate enjoyed a wonderful feast complete with turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie.

Yellowstone County Commissioner Jim Reno, his wife and grandchildren were among the volunteers, and there was even some live music.

"We serve here first and I have to tell you," he said. "It makes your dinner at home taste so much better. We have it very good here, and you don't have to look too far to find folks who have it tough."

People like Teera Curley are thankful for the warm meal on a cold day.

"The food is delicious," she said. "It's great, and I love all of the people here, and I love all of my family back at home."

MRM Marketing Manager Denise Smith says volunteers served 500 meals at the MRM men's shelter headquarters, and delivered 300 additional meals to the less fortunate.

"It gives people a sense of purpose, and it gives people a sense of joy to be able to come down and help out, and just show their appreciation if they have a blessed life that they want to help those individuals who maybe don't have as blessed of a life as they do," she said.

"Today is  a God-send day, and I love it," Curley added. "And I appreciate everybody here."
