WAKE UP MONTANA: West Yellowstone Ice Fishing Tournament Preview
WEST YELLOWSTONE, Mont. -
Jack Baker is the president and director of the NAIFC and puts on several multi-day tournaments in seven states. Baker says every tournament is different but West Yellowstone is the most unique.
Baker is from Minnesota and travels from Montana to Michigan for this year's seven qualifying tournaments. He says since the ice season is so short, he's traveling from one tourney to another.
He travels in his truck with a trailer hauling around everything from fishing gear, score boards and snowmobiles for the tournament.
Baker says what makes the West Yellowstone Tournament so great is the atmosphere, scenery and the trout.
He also says the word is spreading outside of Montana that this is a great tournament to be a part of. He believes this is a tournament where people learn from each other and says the more fishermen you talk to, the better a fisherman you become.
