Habitat for Humanity Relocates Home

BILLINGS -

You may have noticed volunteers with Habitat for Humanity building a home MontanaFair.

Today was the day Habitat relocated the Dorothy Lane house from the fairgrounds to the home's foundation in the Heights.

And it was no small task.

Several volunteers, the police department and workers from Centurylink cleared the way for the structure.

Construction Supervisor Steve Coldiron says he has a real sense of pride when he hands over the keys to a family.

"When they actually get possession of their house, it's just a very emotional time, especially with the children, which is, you go in to a dedication and you have a kid say, here, I want to show you my room, and that kind of thing, you know, it kind of gives you a great feeling of pride to be able to be a part of it,” says Coldiron.

Coldiron adds, without volunteers and sponsors, the non-profit would not be able to make things happen in the community.

Wells Fargo sponsored the build at the fair.

The bank donated $35,000 and provided nearly 10 volunteers per day at the job site.
