Daines Vows to Protect Coal Industry and Middle Class

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -      Lawmakers in major coal states are paying attention in the face of Environmental Protection Agency demands on coal power plants to cut their carbon emissions.

Congressman Steve Daines tells KULR-8 he plans to take the concerns of Montanans back to Washington D.C.

Daines hosted a roundtable discussion with local business leaders in Billings.

Many shared their concerns regarding what's being called over-regulation of the coal industry.  Bob Winger, Retired Past President of Boilermakers Local 11, said clean energy does not provide the good paying jobs middle class Montanans need.

Jane McCracken with Billings Family Services Inc,. said she doesn't want to see coal industry jobs disappear, but she has seen the damaging environmental effects of an unregulated coal industry, like Southeast Asia.
