Yellowstone Seeing More Drones

Posted: Updated:

Yellowstone National Park faces a new challenge.

Park managers say there's a growing trend of visitors capturing photos and videos by drones.

There have been several park eyewitness reports of unmanned aircrafts flying over Yellowstone -- including one drone crash that happened earlier this month around grand prismatic spring.

Al Nash, Yellowstone Chief of Public Affairs, says the drone activity started popping up this summer

"We knew they had been around but had not had any number of sightings or visitor complaints until we moved into this summer and when we're talking about these aircrafts we're typically talking about small devices that are recreational or hobbyist devices," says Nash.

Nash says a new law was enacted in June that prohibits the use of unmanned aircrafts in Yellowstone National Park.
